Who and why burn books?

Prior to the introduction of the printing press, book burning is an effective form of censorship. Since each book is handmade, there were few books, and it was possible to limit the dissemination of ideas and information through the burning of books. Lately he had other purposes. Foreign governments have used burning and other destruction to intimidate and show their power. In the 2000s there was a case series of Harry Potter book burning. In the US, most of the book burning of various books I have been motivated by religious beliefs to read.

Autodafé: 2001-2005

Until Harry Potter books, it was not common, children's book series, to find the most important impulse for a fire. In 2001, many of these book burnings are held. In early January 2002, the Community Church of Christ in Alamogordo, New Mexico, was it the subject of international media attention for his book-burning by the Pastor Jack D. Brock, a sermon on the subject of "Baby Jesus or Harry Potter?". Brock he said the Harry Potter books as "an example of the growing concern in our society with the occult. The Harry Potter books available witchcraft as a positive general practice, while the Bible specifically condemns all occult practices." After burning the books of Harry Potter and other December 30, 2001, sermon the pastor and the book burning event has become the subject of new features, both in the US and England. , CNN.com reported "as hundreds protested near a group of burned church and other Harry Potter books" The BBC (British Broadcasting Company) said: "Pastor Brock said he had never read any of the four Potter novels - ., but he studied its contents "had

In August 2003 the nondenominational Church of Jesus in Greenville, Michigan, was burned the Harry Potter books, according to a Forbes article. According to the article, "" Parents [should], which is more than a book of fiction, "says Turner [one of the pastors]" in the occult inserted "(Source: Forbes ..: Harry Potter and the Ministry of fire, 12:01. 06)

According to the American Library Association, there were several events burning of books in 2001 in connection with the series of Harry Potter, and there were also reports of burning of books or other books in 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2005 drilled.

Burns latest book

Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Canton, North Carolina, said on its website (since removed) burning of the book Halloween 2009, which was interrupted by rain, although the targeted books were destroyed, and plans to 2010 the church fire. The burning of books are not open to the public, but they were by invitation only. Directed in the case of members of the Church, what they call "Bible Satan" who do not call on the King James Version and other books and music.

In August 2010, a church in Gainesville, Florida, was known that he would burn the Koran on September 11, although they denied a permit to burn the city. While reducing and the books that they have detected break, means the destruction of books in groups that do not want the law violated in the cases where it is illegal, the church burn planned to defy the law to be targeted , After a wave of international protests, however, he canceled to prevent burning the burning church, but not in time, riots and deaths during protests against the Quran (Koran). (Source: Reuters, September 11, 2010)

I was surprised that the fire continues to this day. It is an extreme form of censorship that most people, even those who support the difficult books and censorship are not supported.

Everything about the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series

Title: Diary of a Wimpy: the long haul, Book 9
The color of book cover: Orange
Author and illustrator Jeff Kinney
Age level: While books generally appeals to children from 8 to 13 students in elementary and secondary schools and higher reluctant readers, this seems to be very focused to class 3-5, with nothing that is real goal of the middle school.
Length: 224 pages

History: Heffley family is happy on a road trip and Greg almost immediately, but.

The trip, insists Gregs mother is wonderful, it is not going well. His father said he had a lot to do, but according to Greg, "Mama said there is nothing more important than spending time with his family."

After a variety of problems, the family embarks on his journey. With the whole family and luggage to fill the family van, with the overflow in ship his father packed damaged towing are, Greg ends up stuck in the back of the van in an awkward position. The things get worse.

Staying at a terrible motel, with smelly socks for his older brother a washcloth with a meeting with other kids and their crazy father, then run it again, support the baby pig little brother Manny won a just peace in a funeral procession and other cars, trapped bitten poor cemetery, before a seagull infestation in the van and pigs just some things that can go wrong. Throughout the book he writes Greg not only travel, but also of the time when I was younger and tells of other experiences (often disastrous).

My recommendation: The road trip to the frame, and a variety of fun, past and present experiences to move along Diary of a Wimpy Kid the action: the long haul is a fast and fun reading 8-10 and perhaps the biggest fans to a certain age Wimpy Kid. One thing that particularly attracts me is the way the author Jeff Kinney emphasized children's books in the book, Flat Stanley Captain Underpants (called Bandits slip in the book), and choose your own adventure books.

Additional Resources: For more information about the series and other books Wimpy Kid, Diary Books All Greg will function at the beginning of this article. Go to the last page for more information about the Schoolplanner Wimpy Kid, which is designed so that the children start using it immediately and it is a good book to give as a gift for fans of the Journal emptied some books.

Definition: A picture book picture book is a book in which the images are as important as (or even more important than) the words to say, the story. Picture books are usually 32 pages, though few Golden Books have 24 pages. In picture books, there are illustrations on every page, or one of each pair of opposite sides. While most are written picture books for children, in recent years they have released a number of excellent books for readers in primary and secondary schools.

The terms "biography book images" and "the history of the illustrated book" refers to non-fiction books written and illustrated the picture book format.

The definition of "picture book" greatly expands when Brian Selznick won the Caldecott Medal 2008 for picture book illustrations for his book The Invention of Hugo Cabret, a 525-page novel medium quality, which tells the story of a series of successive images (more than 280 pages sets throughout the book) as well as the words of Selznick.

Discovery Sharkopedia book cover - Time Home Entertainment Books

Time Home Entertainment Books

  Summary

With the popularity of Shark Week, and all shark attacks on the East Coast of the United States in 2015, sharks are in the news. Add to this the fact that many children and adults fascinated by sharks and see what Sharkopedia discovery: The Complete Guide to Everything Hai is popular with many children 8-12 and teens and adults.

The Sharkopedia format

"He goes on to emphasize how important it helps save" these amazing animals. "

The large number of photographs and other images of sharks and related topics are accompanied by concise descriptions. Throughout the book there is a small icon in the shape of open books with "word!" It contains the definition of a word in this section of the book. Other offerings include brief information Bits & Bites, Andy says short and accompany the main text.

The content Sharkopedia

Sharkopedia discovery is a comprehensive guide to the sharks and colorful. What you will find in the book of 192 pages, divided into 26 chapters? Some of the topics are:

My recomendation

If your family enjoys Shark Week, you will want to save a copy Sharkopedia discovery: The Complete Guide to Close the shark, so you can get more information or answers to your questions when they come. However, you can Shark week, the book, only an interest in sharks and a desire to enjoy more to learn about them. The only book that is missing is an index, and hopefully a detailed index for the next issue is taken up; but in this issue in detail is a comfort index.

Due to the short "bites" of information and lots of pictures, the size of the discovery is Sharkopedia one that tends to attract reluctant readers. Is the kind of book that most kids are getting back to information instead of reading it to fall from start to finish. In fact, I add to my article Sharkopedia Dip - a good strategy to engage reluctant readers. Can soak a way to ensure that your child to read at least something every day in summer. Sharkopedia for all ages eight and older, and recommend toddlers fascinated by sharks. (Time Home Entertainment Books, 2013. ISBN: 9781603209649)

The cover for the event that the Wild Things Are - HarperCollins

Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. HarperCollins

About.com Rating

Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak it became a classic. Winner of the Caldecott Medal in 1964 as "the most important book picture of the year" was first described by Harper Collins 1963 Description If the book was written, the question of the administration of the dark feelings was rare in children's literature, especially in the picture book format for toddlers.

History

But after more than 50 years, where the Wild Things are popular the impact of the work in the field of children's literature, the impact of the story and illustrations of young readers.

The plot of the game is based on (and real) imaginary bad effects of a small child. One night, Max Wolf carries his suit and made all sorts of things you should not, such as hunting with the dog with a fork. His mother scolds him and calls him a "Wild Thing!" Max is so crazy screaming again: "I'm going to eat" Consequently, his mother sends him to his room without supper.

Max imagination transformed his room in an exceptional environment, with sea and forest and a small sailboat on Max, until it reached a land of "Wild Things". Despite its appearance, and very hard, Max is able to tame a glance. Take all Max is "..the wildest of all," and make him their king. The monsters are also time creating a ruckus until Max begins his wish "... someone who loved him best of all." Max fantasy ends when you feel your dinner. Despite the protests of the wild things, Max travels found back to his room, where he is waiting for his dinner.

The book entitled

This is a particularly attractive story, because Max is in conflict with his mother and his own anger. Although he always angry when he sent in his room, Max did not continue his antics. Instead, there are no limits to their feelings of anger about his imagination, then to make a decision that is not going to let his anger separates him from those he loves and who love him, it comes.

Max is a lovable character. Their actions to follow the dog to you are to speak to his mother realistic. Your emotions are also realistic. It is very common for children to tease and fantasize about what you could do if you ruled the world and to calm down and think about the consequences. Max is the easily identified 3-6 years child.

Summarize

In summary, the Wild Things Are is an excellent book. What makes a book so extraordinary is the creative imagination of Maurice Sendak, both writer and artist Maurice Sendak. (To learn more about it, see my article of the art and the influence of Maurice Sendak) .The text and pictures complement each other that are perfect along the history. The transformation of Max's room a forest is a visual delight. The illustrations in pen and ink color Sendak are in soft colors at the same time humorous and sometimes a little scary what both the imagination of Max and his anger. The issues of conflict and the characters are those with whom readers can identify all ages. I also know from personal experience that it hear a book that children can enjoy again and again. Beginning readers love the Dr. Seuss

It includes six Dr. Seuss Reading Beginners Books - Random House photo Dennis Kennedy covered

Photo Random House covers by Dennis Kennedy

Dr. Seuss for beginning readers

Theodor Seuss Geisel (Dr. Seuss) was beginning to share a pioneer in the development of children's books for readers. Beginning Readers Books contain both a controlled vocabulary and illustrated children's love story. Parents have found that young children love these books read aloud and often to fulfill the words after hearing several times.

Once children have developed a basic vocabulary and be able to speak simple words, they will have fun reading these books with you or for you. All these books should be available at the public library

Green Eggs and Ham

The challenge is to write a book with only 50 different words, it succeeded brilliantly with Dr. Seuss Green Eggs and Ham, time and time again repeated the same words one syllable, as he told the story in rhyme that Sam-I -am constantly trying to convince another fuzzy creature to try the green eggs and ham, another creature still refuses to do so. When Sam-I-am finally convinced him to try the green eggs and ham, the creature goes on and rave about how much he loves green ham and eggs, with two-syllable word in the book solo show his enthusiasm by saying: "I going to eat anywhere "(Random House, 1960. ISBN: 9780394800165)!

In the enjoyment of your child when you green eggs and ham and other related revenues Seuss Green Eggs and Ham Cookbook.

The Cat in the Hat

Therefore, it has many more words than Green Eggs and Ham, controlled vocabulary, the emphasis on a syllable words and simple sentences in a good book for beginning readers. But what makes it popular from both book reader and reading the story of the turbulent rhyme, what happens when the young cat in the hat visit Sally and her brother, while his mother is out. Vocabulary is usually a monosyllabic words. (Random House, 1963. ISBN: 9780394800295)

The foot book

The book is definitely a crazy walking book of contrasts. What makes the book so much fun rhymes is that all contradictions in terms presented to her feet, feet to many diffuse Dr. Seuss creatures and springs belong. The book begins with the left and right foot, of "feet in the morning" and "evening feet" and sits down with his legs in different colors, sizes, numbers, and more. How Hop on Pop, the foot is the perfect book for beginning readers, who appreciate the ridiculous fun. (Random House, 1968. ISBN: 9780394809373)

I would use this book in many ways. Firstly, for children 4-8, the poems without the mutual use of the images, my children, to visualize their imagination what they hear, had read. Later, I'd like to share poems and pictures together. Still later, we went back and looked at it carefully and discuss how the artist interprets the poetry.

For example, after reading "Fog" Sandburg loudly for himself, I read it again, and at the same time the images. Then we would come back and talk about the gentle way represented the first two lines: "The fog is / in little cat feet, and we would see that the fog is actually in the shape of a cat in his presentation.

Even babies enjoy listening to poetry and preschoolers are the illustrations to enjoy. Older children and adults are also listening to read poetry aloud or to yourself and enjoy the unique artwork by Melissa Sweet, construct meaning from what they see and hear.

More seasonal Children Poetry

I also recommend parts: one year, in poems and quilts Anna Grossnickle Hines. Hines has also written and illustrated Winter Lights: A Season in Poems and Quilts, one of the three books that I count is in my overview of poetry books for children in winter.

For stories about the seasons, and then to see that it is spring and the other books on my book preview Gardens of the top 11 children. For fall, I recommend a man and leaf peepers. For the winter I have put together the best books for children snow.

Strong female character in children & # 039; Books

One Crazy Summer - book cover art - Amistad, an imprint of HarperCollins

Amistad, an imprint of HarperCollins

My first strong female character in a children's book

"When Mary Lennox was sent Misselthwaite Manor to all live with her uncle, she said the most disgusting looking child ever seen." When I read those words as a child, I was petrified. The Secret Garden was the book of my favorite sons. It remains one of the few books that children love to read again every few years. Mary Lennox is a strong fascinating, brave female figure and a girl resource if ever there was one.

It is important for girls and boys, reading books with strong female characters.

Why is it important?

For too long, too many books for children or not, the main characters, the females or included female characters who were passive and not think or act for themselves and have had to play a limited role in society. The world has changed, and the role of women, and it is important to share the books that not only this change, but show more future opportunities for all. Since the books help girls and boys define their places in the world, we have with them children's books, the boys and girls to a variety of ways to see their lives and make the lives of others, rather than to share limited options on grounds of sex.

Find strong female character in children's books

Where are the books like The Secret Garden, and Anne of Green Gables books that girls and kids will enjoy, and that is to strengthen so strong and resourceful, the concept of women, including the girl?

Start with the question of women you find in the books of their favorite sons with girls and / or strong women who can be found in the lists of recommended books and reading lists (see below) and see if the same books are normally and repeatedly mentioned. Check with the children's librarian at your school or public library. Look for books in a variety of genres, from mystery to sports. See sections biography and autobiography in the section of your favorite bookstore or library for children.

The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

Cover The Lightning Thief - Disney-Hyperion

Book One, Percy Jackson Series. Disney-Hyperion

About.com Rating

Overview

The first book in the popular series by Rick Riordan Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, is a playful introduction to the world of the mestizo and the heroes of Greek mythology. Title hilarious chapter ("We have a zebra in Las Vegas"), full of action and exciting chapter and the great voice and intelligent writing characters, readers of all ages (but especially the older 10 to 13) you will find yourself in the world of Percy immersed, not in a position to put down the book.

History

Twelve years Percy Jackson was expelled from several schools. He is dyslexic, ADHD, and that's it. So the last thing you want to do, throw Yancy Academy. , During a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, but something goes wrong when he and his best friend Grover, they are of the monster math teacher he turned to attack.

Percy manages to get out, but after the fight is terribly confusing and I think it has hallucinations. He returns to the Manhattan apartment of his mother, they think are expelled from school again. No mention everyone who believes, he had monsters in pursuit until Grover comes to your home and shows that he, Grover, actually - a satyr.

It turns out that Percy is a mestizo, the son of a Greek god, and are actually monsters after him and tried to kill him. The safest place is in the Camp Half-Blood, a summer camp on Long Iceland for the children of the gods, so his mother pushes her Percy and Grover. Although the journey is not monotonic (chased by a Minotaur), they will receive safe way to the camp.

Percy is introduced a new world of gods, magic, adventure and heroes. Despite its confusing turn of events, Percy enjoy what it has to offer the camp (shopping, sword fights, Capture the Flag Epic Games) new friends at camp - Annabeth, daughter of Athena; and Luke, son of Hermes.

Then two things happen. Percy's mother kidnapped and taken to the Underworld and reveals that someone stole the master bolt to Zeus. Percy is the prime suspect, since he is the son of Poseidon (one of the three major gods) and Zeus and Poseidon currently controversial. Zeus demanded screw are not supplied by the summer solstice, in 10 days. So Percy - with Grover and Annabeth - is sent on a quest to find the flash and return to Olympus (in the 600 floor of the Empire State Building) before that date.

The three embark on a quest that takes place in all kinds of odd addresses, to all kinds of adventures. There is an incident with the Furies, which experienced a blown-up bus, a train ride (with the help of a pink poodle) in St. Louis, and a battle at the head of the St. Louis Arch Percy translates fall from there in Mississippi and that some of his powers are half-breed.

Shortly after St. Louis, meets the trio with Ares, the god of war, which is confiscated and call his mantle of an amusement park. In return for the fulfillment of the Ares, which give them a backpack and a trip to Las Vegas. Once in Las Vegas, checked into the Lotus Hotel and Casino, which, to his great joy are all unlimited. They remain until Percy meets a conversation with a child, who think they are the 1970s and concludes that the casino is a time trap, and lost a week's time. Escape from the casino, the trio by taxi in Los Angeles, and enters the world (behind a record store) can be seen in the Hades.

Once the guards are avoided to the underworld, they are Percy's withdrawn into Hades, where they collide and require parent. Hades, requires in turn give the top of the dark (we did not know was missing) and Percy blame for the flight. As part of this change, Hades mentioned that the kingpin of Zeus the backpack Ares is given.

The trio used beads Percy by a water spirit given to escape the underworld, but the victim is that they leave him Percy's mother. Back on the beach, on the outskirts of Los Angeles, discovered that Ares has the top of the dark and is angry because Percy ruined his plan for the war among the gods. Ares and Percy fight, and as a result of the victory of Percy, Ares turns Hades Helmet. Hades then returns Percy's mother.

Percy, Annabeth and Grover to the camp, in the hope that things return to normal. On the last day, but Percy and Luke in the area of the surrounding jungle, Lucas, when a message Percy bite poisonous scorpion. Percy is incredulous: Lucas thought was a friend. It turns out that Lucas actually works for Kronos and was behind the theft of the master screw. Percy barely made it to the camp in time to save his life, and when it happens, Lucas disappeared.

My Recommendation

Although the plot seems unnecessarily complicated, it works as a whole in order to keep the reader hooked. There is a global story, which together contain all the small pieces (the search for Percy, and the beginning of a war, the Kronos spans), but in many ways it is the smaller side stories with lesser gods and myths (like Medusa Aunt M run Garden Gnome Emporium or Procrustes, who owns a mattress store) make fun story to read.

Riordan knows inside and out myths and know the best way it interesting for kids. It also has the advantage of using two children - a great hero Percy and a fascinating character - and girls - Annabeth is incredibly strong and intelligent heroine Lightning Thief provides a good start to a series of fun .. I pushes to 10 years to 13 , (Disney-Hyperion 2005 Hardcover 2006 Paperback ISBN 9780786838653 :.)

The authors and illustrators of these three books footage towards the traditional narrative, changing some of the story elements: characters, setting, problem and / or the resolution.

Author Louise Fitzhugh

Louise Fitzhugh, born October 5, 1928 in Memphis, Tennessee, has an ideal childhood. Her parents divorced when she was two years old and was raised by her father, who financed his participation in Hutchins, an all-girl boarding school elite.

Fitzhugh attended college to study painting and began his career as an illustrator. Harriet the Spy, which also shows, 1964. Controversy

Harriet M. Welsch is not only a spy girl; she is a spy girl with spices and this type of character has not found favor with some parents and teachers. Besides being naughty, selfish and prone to fits of rage all the way Harriet was not wise as Nancy Drew spy, with the most readers were familiar polished. Harriet cursed, talked to the parents, and not the fact that his words were hurtful.

After NPR function "unapologetically Harriet the Spy Misfit", the book was banned and many parents and teachers that Harriet was a bad role model for children, as it sets the trends in default felt questioned. Harriet, argued crude critics, spy n 't, but entertained, maligned and hurt others, without compassion for his actions.

Despite the controversy at first, Harriet the Spy as # 17 on the Top 100 list of the novels of children in a school library journal listed 2012 reader survey and is considered a historical novel in literature for children realistic.

My Recommendation

Harriet is not exactly a paragon of virtue. Spy on their neighbors and friends; Write mean and hurtful remarks; It does not seem very sorry for his words and actions. Today, these properties are set in the fictional children's book are not atypical, but Harriet was incomparably 1964 as sarcastic character who was not afraid to speak his mind or talk to their parents.

To be honest, Harriet was an amazing character and my first thought was: "This child is a spoiled child." Moreover, it seems that parents Harriet offline, hard and totally clueless about how to talk to her only son. However, he was still flipped because I would wonder what happen to these egocentric very smart girl, but it was really very lonely. When Ole Golly left, the only one whose ways and clever words back to Harriet limits required, Harriet turned his feelings outwards and was primarily means people who cared more.

Book expert Anita Silvey children, including Harriet the Spy in his book 100 Best Books for Children, described Harriet as a strong character remains the same. No in a beautiful girl who has deeply sorry for the damage caused, it is transformed. Instead, they got a little more discreet to express themselves. Harriet is an erroneous character. She's a rebel, and is easy to believe that she is a real person, as it remains true to itself. Harriet the Spy is a good book for readers and reluctant readers who enjoy stories only characters that think and talk outside the Box. I recommend this book for readers from 10 years. It is surprisingly wide variety of female characters in fiction. Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud classic, durable as science fiction and fantasy novel A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle Montgomery, and both have the female protagonist of interesting facts , Another interesting woman is the main character in the development of Calpurnia Tate. The protagonists of these novels are very different from Harriet, and you and your children enjoy their comparison with the girl spy.

Summary

Sun and Moon by Lindsey Yankey is a picture book that is successful at different levels: It is a good story. The illustrations are unforgettable. Since much of the story takes place at night and tone of the story is quiet and thoughtful, the sun and the moon is a great story. In addition, there are some subtle messages woven into the story. I recommend the Sun and Moon for children aged 3-6 years.

The editor recommends the book 4-8 years, and certainly see that interesting conversations at home and at school aroused.

History

Moon wants to swap places with the sun for a day. Too often it is the night to be a boring and lonely time. He is jealous when you think Sun enjoy colorful flowers, children playing and more during the day. When the moon turns to Sun, Sun is ready to negotiate only on two conditions:

  1. Not last trade for a day, but forever.
  2. Decides Against Moon to negotiate, Sun said, "... you have to spend a night in heaven watching closely with the earth -. Closer than ever"

What happens is when the moon does exactly that and recognize the beauty and the life around him at night makes for a very satisfying story. Young children will gain a new appreciation of the night, when the sun and moon to share with them and perhaps learn to appreciate above all by promoting the smooth and message to what you have.

The illustrations and author and illustrator Lindsey Yankey

Lindsey Yankey makes use of a variety of media to create art of his stylized and imaginative illustrations. Your selection strong and soft colors, yet whimsical details and dark blue for night scenes pictures give a dreamlike quality that complements the story. My Recommendation

Sun and Moon by Lindsey Yankey is one of those books that young children want to hear again and again and again and to see that parents enjoy reading and share with them. For children who are a little worried about the dark, Yankey has some good reasons, in two words and images, to appreciate the beauty and dark night. Yankey also offers a subtle message about the importance of seeing and really appreciate what you desire rather than what someone else have. Share the sun and moon with their children both as a bedroom and a story at any time. (I just read books, 2015 ISBN: 9781927018606)

Other recommended picture books

Read aloud rhyme pleasure, I recommend the Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler Superworm both represented. After, when and where you grew up, your idea may be the Disney movie Cinderella, the fairy tale in the stories of the Brothers Grimm classic fairy tale by Charles Perrault, based on the Disney movie, or one of the other versions of Cinderella.

To make things even more complicated, asks a story a story of Cinderella does not mean that heroin is Cinderella. While Ashpet, rags Catskins and names may be familiar, it seems so many different names for the protagonist, as there are different versions of the story.

Elements of a Cinderella story

What makes a story is just a story of Cinderella? Although it seems that there are several interpretations of these, it seems, to general approval, we often have some elements of a Cinderella story. The main character is usually, but not always, a girl who is abused by her family. Cinderella is a good and kind person. His goodness will be rewarded with the magical help. It is recognized for its value for something they left behind (for example, a golden slipper). It is high in position by a real person who loves for her good qualities.

Changes History

I was surprised that in the late nineteenth century, changes in the history of publishing resist.

In 1891, the Folk-Lore Society in London Cinderella Marian Roalfe Cox published: 340-5 variants of Cinderella, Catskin and Cap 0 'Rushes, abstract and a table, with a discussion of similar and medieval Cinderella Bibliography Online notes Professor Russell. Peck gives you an idea of what makes a large number of versions. The bibliography that contain abstracts for most stories, including fundamental European texts, problems of children and modern adaptations, including versions of the Cinderella story in the world, and many other data.

The Cinderella Project

To compare some versions, visit the Cinderella project. It is a text file and image containing a dozen English versions of Cinderella. According to the site introduction, "The presented ashen represent some of the most common types of the Anglo-Saxon world history in the early twentieth century XVIII, XIX and. Materials, these files were to build from the Grummond research collection extracted children's literature at the University of Southern Mississippi . "

Other Resources Cinderella

Cinderella Stories Children's Literature Web Guide provides an excellent list of reference books, articles, picture books and online resources. One of the most comprehensive books children I have found is the Cinderella Judy Sierra, which is part of the series Oryx Multicultural Folktale is. Books contain eight pages fifty-nine versions of Cinderella stories from 25 different countries. The stories are good for reading aloud; no pictures of action, so that their children, to your imagination. The stories that did contain several pages of activities for children from 9 to 14 may also well in class, and the author. There is also a glossary and a bibliography, as well as background information.

Fairy tales and other versions is a product of the Brothers Grimm and his collection of tales written with an emphasis on other versions of Cinderella and resources.

Cinderella page on the website Folklore and Mythology Electronic Texts contains the texts of stories and related stories from a variety of different countries pursued heroines.

"Cinderella or The Little Glass Slipper" is an online version of the classic fairy tale by Charles Perrault, the Blue Fairy Book.
