Sun and Moon by Lindsey Yankey is a picture book that is successful at different levels: It is a good story. The illustrations are unforgettable. Since much of the story takes place at night and tone of the story is quiet and thoughtful, the sun and the moon is a great story. In addition, there are some subtle messages woven into the story. The editor recommends the book 4-8 years, and certainly see that interesting conversations at home and at school aroused.
History
Moon wants to swap places with the sun for a day. Too often it is the night to be a boring and lonely time. He is jealous when you think Sun enjoy colorful flowers, children playing and more during the day. When the moon turns to Sun, Sun is ready to negotiate only on two conditions:
- Not last trade for a day, but forever.
- Decides Against Moon to negotiate, Sun said, "... you have to spend a night in heaven watching closely with the earth -. Closer than ever"
What happens is when the moon does exactly that and recognize the beauty and the life around him at night makes for a very satisfying story. Young children will gain a new appreciation of the night, when the sun and moon to share with them and perhaps learn to appreciate above all by promoting the smooth and message to what you have.

My Recommendation
Sun and Moon by Lindsey Yankey is one of those books that young children want to hear again and again and again and to see that parents enjoy reading and share with them. For children who are a little worried about the dark, Yankey has some good reasons, in two words and images, to appreciate the beauty and dark night. Yankey also offers a subtle message about the importance of seeing and really appreciate what you desire rather than what someone else have. Share the sun and moon with their children both as a bedroom and a story at any time. (I just read books, 2015 ISBN: 9781927018606)
